Leadership isn’t only about directing—it’s about coaching. And coaching is one of the most powerful ways to hold yourself accountable as a leader.
Take this common scenario:A team member consistently misses deadlines. As a manager, it’s tempting to step in, dictate a solution, or take the work back yourself. But coaching empowers them to solve their own problem.
That’s where the GROW model comes in:
Goal – You ask: “What does success look like for you on this project?”Reality – Together you explore: “What’s getting in the way right now?”Options – You brainstorm: “What could you do differently to meet the deadline?”Will/Way Forward – Finally, you ask: “What will you commit to doing, and by when?”
Instead of rescuing, you’ve guided them to reflect, problem-solve, and take ownership. Over time, this builds confidence, capability, and trust.
At Nexus Coaching, we teach leaders that accountability isn’t about micromanaging—it’s about coaching. And with a simple framework like GROW, any leader can become a more effective coach.
