❤️ Do You Feel Valued at Work?

A Valentine’s Day question worth asking your team

Growing up, Valentine’s Day was either the best or the worst day of the year. The popular kids went home with stacks of cards, candy, and hearts taped to their desks. Others were lucky to receive one or two — usually from a best friend or a kind teacher.

We grow up, but the workplace isn’t all that different.

Every organization has people who are visible, celebrated, and naturally recognized — and others who do great work quietly, preferring to stay out of the spotlight. As leaders, the question isn’t who stands out, but how we make everyone feel valued.

Appreciation isn’t one-size-fits-all. Borrowing from the idea of “love languages,” the real question becomes: what actually makes people feel seen at work? Understanding your team’s language — and your own — helps you lead with intention, not assumption.

What makes YOU feel most appreciated?Words of affirmation — feedback and recognition• Acts of service — support and removing obstacles• Gifts or rewards — bonuses, spot awards, perks
