Do You Have Glossophobia?

The Fear of Public Speaking

Some people would rather die than present to a group of their peers in a boardroom.

I get it. It’s not easy.

But if you want to be in senior management, it’s time to overcome your fears.

I’ve honed hundreds of managers’ presentation skills.

Everyone has their own style, so I’ll share a secret with you.

Practice sustaining the audience’s ATTENTION.

Engage them, and they’ll stay focused, making it easier to get your point across.

There are three ways to engage them.

  1. Physically

    1. Move the body, and the brain will follow. Anything you can do to get your audience to move their bodies will create physical engagement. (I’ve got a tonne of tips for this)

  2. Mentally

    1. People zone out. It’s a fact. You can fight this by:

      1. Asking questions

      2. Incorporate a shocking statement, data, and stats

      3. Introduce imaginative analogies - using the familiar to explain the unfamiliar

  3. Linguistically

    1. Words matter. We’re hardwired to respond to certain ones, like:

      1. Inclusive words, like our own names & the term ‘you’

      2. Time-travelling language - takes people to the past or future, imagining what ‘could’ be or connecting through past shared experiences

Combining these techniques produces various types of audience engagement.

I also know which techniques to avoid mixing if you are presenting positive or negative news.

Let me present these to you.

Practice makes perfect.
