First-Day Nerves and Fearless Leadership

ree

How leaders can calm the jitters and focus on what’s going well.

The first day of school is just around the corner, and my daughters already have a mix of excitement and nerves. Will I like my teacher? Will my friends be in my class?

I see the same feelings in teams starting new projects or facing a big change at work. They wonder: Will this work? Will I fit in? Will I succeed?

Leaders can ease uncertainty by:

·         Highlighting what’s going well

·         Offering encouragement grounded in reality

·         Keeping conversations anchored in values and goals

Kids walk into new classrooms with more confidence when they know they’re supported. Teams do the same when they trust their leader is clear, present, and steady.

You can’t remove every unknown — but you can make sure no one has to face it alone.
