Leadership Lessons from the Movie Theatre

And yes, we got the large popcorn.
This weekend I took my girls to see the new live-action How to Train Your Dragon. Big screen. Big adventure. Big emotions. And—of course—big questions like: "Can we get candy and slushies and popcorn?"
When you're a parent, going to the movies becomes less about watching and more about navigating the experience:Setting expectations ("One treat each"… followed by, "Okay, fine, let’s just get the large.") Managing choices ("We’ll see this movie today, and maybe that one next weekend.") Mediating personalities (when one wants dragons and the other wants Lindsay Lohan)
Turns out, movie outings are a pretty great leadership boot camp.
They teach:✔️ Decision-making✔️ Negotiation✔️ Conflict resolution✔️ Compromise✔️ Knowing when to stand firm… and when to say “Sure, let’s make it a combo.”
Because leadership isn’t always about strategy sessions or boardrooms. Sometimes, it’s about keeping your cool in a snack line meltdown—and finding joy in the shared experience.
Also: the dragons were awesome. Highly recommend.
