Letting Go at the Curb

ree

Trust means stepping back—while staying close enough to support.

The first day of school always hits me the same way. Standing at the curb, watching my kids walk into a brand-new classroom, I feel that mix of pride, nerves, and the urge to run in after them. But that’s the moment where trust matters most.

As leaders, we face the same crossroads in uncertain times. We want to shield our teams from every bump. Yet real growth happens when we:

·        Equip them with the right tools and information

·        Remind them of their strengths

·        Step back and let them take the lead

Trust doesn’t mean disappearing. It means being present—available to listen, coach, and support when needed.

Every September reminds me: the goal isn’t to protect people from uncertainty. It’s to prepare them to walk into it with confidence.
