Who wouldn't love champagne and flowers? Many of us do.
But as Simon Sinek explains in a post, sometimes the most expensive gifts aren't the most meaningful. In his talk to a group of real estate agents, Simon explains why champagne and flowers might not be as appreciated by a recent home-buyer as something less expensive but more meaningful, and shared a personal story to drive home a lesson about being an active listener.
It takes practice to be a good listener, but it's well worth it. In my leadership sessions, I use Simon's story to teach skills like building focus, practicing empathy, and seeking feedback.
