I once worked with a mining company that had kept the same process for 17 years. It wasn’t broken. But it was slow, expensive, and made onboarding new staff nearly impossible.
When I asked the leadership team why it hadn’t been reviewed in almost two decades, someone shrugged and said, “Honestly? It’s just comfortable.” That moment was the real breakthrough.
We’re not wired to change when things are “fine.” But the companies that thrive are the ones who ask hard questions before they hit a wall.
