Self-Awareness: How Do You Show Up as a Leader?

ree

Picture this: it’s pouring rain, your car’s in the shop, and just as your Uber pulls up, another car splashes you with muddy water. You walk into the office wet, frustrated, and with no time to change.

Now here’s the question: how do you show up?

Do you close your office door and stew? Or do you take a breath, manage your frustration, and engage with your team anyway?

This is self-awareness in action—knowing what you’re like at your best, and what you’re like when you’re not at your best. It’s understanding the difference between a reaction (snapping at someone) and a response (choosing patience). It’s managing yourself under stress so you can set the tone for others.

Your role as a leader isn’t just to manage workflow—it’s to manage the culture. And culture starts with how you show up, especially on the messy, muddy days.

At Nexus Coaching, we believe self-awareness is a cornerstone of leadership. When you know yourself, you can lead others with clarity and authenticity.
